Where the Wild Things Grow

Our garden nursery has a lot to offer throughout the year, whether for your garden, vegetables in your local stores, or fresh pine trees and Poinsettia for the holidays.

Did you know?

Bell’s grows about 80% of all the plants in the nursery. We begin growing our annuals in January so they are ready in May for hanging baskets, tubs, and the garden. The Anchorage bowl is zone 3-4, and so we recommend the last weekend in May as safe after proper hardening to plant your annuals and perennials. May is also the month to come to Bell’s and pick up your wintered hanging baskets and tubs or to purchase a new one for your home or business. We have so many varieties, colors, and combinations. Every year we are proud to offer new varieties of annuals. Just ask the front counter; they will gladly show you.

Gardening Tips and Tricks

Download these files for plant information on trees, shrubs, hanging baskets, and lawns. Since our growing season is limited, these helpful hints will make sure your garden is looking its best this summer. Also we recommend the book, The Alaska Gardener’s Handbook by Lenore Hedla which is available for purchase at all of our nurseries.
